Our current elected officers
Co-Chairs, Vice-Chairs, Treasurer and Secretary
Officers are elected once a year at the APPG’s Annual General Meeting. They are responsible for the direction and decisions of the Group on behalf of all Members. They work with the Secretariat to organise and conduct the Meetings, Roundtable, Inquiries and other activities which together constitute the business of the Group.
Co-chair
Karan Bilimoria is the founding Co-Chair of the Group and sits as a cross-bench peer in the House of Lords.
He is a successul businessman in the UK as the founder of Cobra Beer, and is himself a former international student from India.
He is the Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, the current President of UKCISA (the UK Council for International Student Affairs), and a Past President of the CBI.
Co-Chair
Paul has been the MP for Sheffield Central since 2010.
Representing the parliamentary constituency with the largest population of students in the UK, Paul is a celebrated advocate for their interests, serving also as the Chair of the APPG for Students and the Secretary of the APPG for Universities.
