APPGIS International Student Experience Roundtable

On Wednesday 11 June 2025, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Students, in collaboration with UKCISA and the NUS, convened an International Student Experience Roundtable to explore both the contributions and associated costs of international students across the UK’s regions and nations.

This session followed the Expert Roundtable held the previous week, building on insights from policymakers, academics, and sector leaders to delve deeper into practical experiences and perspectives from students themselves.

Both roundtables form part of the APPG’s ongoing Inquiry into the Regional Impact and Sustainability of International Students, aimed at identifying best practices to promote long-term, balanced outcomes.

Students from across the country shared personal experiences, offering insight into how collaboration among government bodies, education providers, and devolved administrations can be strengthened. The roundtable highlighted the value of a coordinated, UK-wide approach to supporting international students and enhancing their positive impact on local communities.

Discussions from the session will contribute to evidence-based recommendations across immigration, trade, education, and economic development policy areas, with the final report set to be published in early July.
